Stage

Javier Barcala is a writer, film director and creative producer working in the realms of narrative fiction, documentaries, theater, commercials and art films with storytelling at its heart.

DORIAN was a loose and wildly visual stage adaptation of Oscar Wilde's masterpiece centered in the contemporary art world and the current obsessions of the digital era such as celebrity culture, shock value, pornography, drugs, social media attention and the vanity and egomaniac behavior of its contenders. A frenetic tragicomedy with a fresh and urgent message. Produced by Noord Nederlands Toneel, one of the largest theater companies in The Netherlands, it ran in 2018 throughout 20 major cities in the country.
